KOLBE SET FOR POSSIBLE SA RETURN

If the locker room rumours turn out to be true, Cheslin Kolbe is set to return to play rugby in South Africa.

The Stormers are keen to secure the Springbok winger even though it comes with a massive pay cut.

Kolbe hasn’t played club or provincial rugby in South Africa since 2017. Back then, he left the Stormers for Toulouse.

After that, he went on to play for Toulon and then for Suntory Sungoliath in Japan since 2023. He’s been playing in Japan ever since, where he reportedly earns around R22 million per season.

Kolbe’s life is a real rags-to-riches story. Having grown up in the Cape Flats, the 31-year-old is currently one of the highest-paid rugby players in the world.

The two-time Rugby World Cup winner played his first match for South Africa in 2018. Not long after, he became a crucial figure, often making match-winning moves.

Whether Kolbe is going to move remains to be seen as neither he nor the Stormers has made any announcements.
