CHINA REPORTS HOTTEST SUMMER EVER

China just experienced its hottest summer on record. Ever. According to the local meteorological authority, this is the case.

The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) said in a post on social media that from June to August, "large parts of China experienced intense heat, with the national average temperature reaching 22.31 °C".

This makes the summer of 2025 the hottest summer since records began in 1961.

In Beijing, temperatures rose to almost 40 °C in June already. This led to authorities issuing a warning for July and August that was still to come.

Shanghai experienced 27 days where temperatures reached in excess of 25 °C during August.

The CMA said clearer skies and more exposure to the heat from the sun were due to stronger high-pressure weather systems.

Last year, it was announced by the World Meteorological Organisation that 2024 was the world’s hottest year on record. With temperatures rising across the Northern Hemisphere, it could mean 2025 takes over the sweltering title.

Man-made global warming issues are also to blame for the increase in temperatures.

EWN reports that China is the world's largest producer of carbon dioxide, a potent greenhouse gas, though it has pledged to bring its emissions to a peak by the end of this decade and to net zero by 2060.
