THRISTON LAWRENCE WINS SECOND EUROPEAN MASTERS
He might have had to fight back from a poor start, but Thriston Lawrence has won another European Masters title.
The South African was leading by one shot overnight and then fell two shots off the pace in his final round.
But the sixth hole is where everything changed for him. Lawrence managed to get five birdies in his next eight holes, which helped him win the Swiss event held at Crans-Montana.
On winning, Lawrence got emotional.
"I'm just so emotional, so happy. It's been a grind all day. Obviously, after that start - I tried to give the guys a chance there! But yeah, I'm just so proud of the way I fought out there."
The guys he’s referring to are Matt Wallace, Sami Valimaki and Rasmus Hojgaard, who were two shots behind him and sharing second place.
The 28-year-old turned professional in 2014 and is currently ranked number 68 in the world.
Winning this round of the European Masters meant Lawrence won just over a cool half a million dollars which translates to around R9 million.
