FORD ISSUES MAJOR RECALL IN SA

Thousands of Ford models will be recalled across South Africa and some neighbouring countries.

This comes after the Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) announced a list of safety recalls.

The safety issue comes from a software issue that could lead to the infotainment screen freezing or going black. This could potentially affect the rear-view camera and lead to safety issues.

The recalled vehicles include the Ford Ranger (17,741 units), Ford Everest (3,317 units), and the Ford Transit Custom (678 units).

In addition to this recall, FMCSA also had to issue a recall for 30 Ford Mustangs, one Ford EcoSport, one Ford Ranger and one Ford Everest due to a Sync software error.

Furthermore, eight Ford Ranger vehicles that were manufactured in 2025 are being recalled for a transmission defect. According to the FMCSA, the transmission main valve body in these vehicles doesn’t meet specifications, which may cause unexpected forward movement even when the reverse gear is selected.

Owners affected by the different recalls will be contacted directly by FMCSA or authorised dealers to schedule repairs. The repairs will be at no cost to the owners of the affected vehicles.
