MCLAREN F1 CAR TO BE AUCTIONED OFF
McLaren is set to sell three of their cars, with one of them being their 2026 Formula One car, which hasn’t been seen by the public or raced yet.
The other two cars to be auctioned off are the 2026 Arrow McLaren IndyCar, which we be driven at the Indianapolis 500 next year by Pato O’Ward, as well as McLaren’s inaugural 2027 World Endurance Hypercar that will be raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The F1 car will be driven by either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri next year. It hasn’t been named yet, but it’s likely to be the MCL40 following this year’s MCL39.
The new car features a big change in technical and engine regulations.
The auction will take place on 5 December and it’s organised by RM Sotheby’s just before the final Grand Prix of the season to be held in Abu Dhabi.
According to Zak Brown, McLaren’s Chief Executive Officer, the auction would be the first time a future Formula One car had been sold before it had been unveiled to the public.
Although successful bidders could buy the cars at the auction, they’ll only be able to take delivery once the respective series has ended. The F1 car will only be available for delivery in 2028.
