ROBERT REDFORD DIES
Hollywood icon Robert Redford has passed away. He was 89.
The acclaimed Oscar-winning actor died in Sundance, Utah, in the United States. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.
Redford first made his debut alongside Jane Fonda in 1967. They starred in the movie Barefoot In The Park. Soon after, memorable movies like Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, The Way We Were, and The Sting followed.
The actor turned director was loved by many. Fellow actress Meryl Streep wrote in her tribute, “one of the lions has passed”, while Jane Fonda said the death of Redford, who often starred opposite her, hit her hard.
Besides excelling at acting and directing, Redford was also the brains behind the Sundance Institute and the famous Sundance Film Festival.
In the 1960s, he bought land in the town of Sundance. He loved it so much that he decided to start his own film festival so that the rest of Hollywood could also experience the mountains of Utah.
The Sundance Film Festival went on to become one of the biggest independent film festivals in the world and is often credited for launching the careers of Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson.
