MITCHUM RECALLED FROM SA SHELVES

One of the country’s favourite roll-on deodorants has been recalled from the market.

Mitchum has been recalled after complaints received by customers in South Africa, the UK, and Ireland.

The product in focus is the 48-hour 100ml roll-on.

While other companies would usually go the official route, Mitchum chose Facebook to share a statement:

‘Some of you have told us that you have experienced skin irritation after using select batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100 ml Roll-On, sold here in South Africa. No other product lines are affected.’

The statement touched on the human aspect of the recall. ‘We appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. We are truly sorry to those who were impacted and for the time it took to complete our investigation.’

The product's interaction with the skin was altered by a modification to the manufacturing process of a raw material.

‘While the formula itself hasn’t changed, a change in the manufacturing process of one of our raw materials altered how the product interacts with the skin of some consumers,’ the statement explained.

Mitchum confirmed that it only affects a small number of batches.

If you’ve been affected, reach out to Mitchum’s Customer Care line or visit their website.
