NGUMOHA SIGNS WITH LIVERPOOL

At just 17 years old, Rio Nguhoma has signed his first Premier League club contract.

Liverpool Football Club announced the signing but didn’t disclose any details.

British media reported that the contract will be valid for three years, the maximum contract term offered to players under the age of 18, according to FA rules.

During his Premier League debut in August, Ngumoha came off the bench and scored the winning goal for Newcastle United in the 100th minute.

At the time, a joint post from the teenager and Liverpool recalled the magic moment.

“The fans, I heard them screaming my name, and that’s a sensational moment, I would say.

“But you can’t get too carried away with all the noise, like I said, because at the end of the day, I probably do that finish 100 times on the training ground, so it’s no different with the fans [here]. But obviously, the fans backing you there, it’s just crazy.”

The London-born star joined Liverpool’s academy last year and has since made five senior appearances. Before Liverpool, he was signed as a youngster at Chelsea. He has since made five senior appearances for Liverpool.

On his youth contract, he reportedly earned around R335,000 per year, with his new annual salary increasing to R1,2 million.
