INJURY SCARE FOR INDIAN WOMENS CRICKET
While preparing for their World Cup 2025 campaign, India’s women's cricket team got a scare when all-rounder Arundhati Reddy was injured.
The incident happened during their first official warm-up match against England at the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru on Thursday.
During the match’s 13th over, Reddy bowled a dot ball to Heather Knight. Knight sent it back in Reddy’s direction, hitting the bowl on her left knee by accident.
Reddy fell to the ground and was assisted by her teammates, who helped her to the ropes. She was wheelchaired off the field and went for an immediate check-up.
Soon after the incident, Reddy was seen back on her feet again, but she was limping. The exact extent of her injury is not clear at this stage.
With India’s World Cup opener less than a week away, India’s coach must be worried.
Just recently, Yastika Bhati sustained an ACL tear at the national team’s skills camp in Vizag. Bhati is unlikely to make a timely recovery and is only expected to be back in action next year after she has undergone surgery and started rehabilitation.
During this warmup match, India decided to rest Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, as well as opening batter Pratika Rawal.
