FLIGHT ATTENDANT REVEALS WHY PASSENGERS SHOULD AVOID HOT WATER BEVERAGES – AND IT IS DISGUSTING

A flight attendant named Kat Kamalani shared some of the dos and don’ts when it comes to ordering on a plane. Kat shared a video on TikTok where she explains the things you should never ask for on an airline.

She says in her video that passengers should never ask for anything using hot water. Yes, that includes coffee or tea. The reason for this is because the tanks are never cleaned and, to make it even worse, it is also positioned in an undesirable location, right near the toilets.

"The reason being is that those water tanks are never cleaned and they are disgusting. So, talk to a flight attendant, we rarely, rarely drink the tea or coffee, they come from the same water tank and so when you're drinking that coffee and tea it comes from that hot water and it's absolutely disgusting."

But that does not mean you can't ask for things in bottles – which is highly recommended.

However, during a long flight with a baby, several parents do need warm water to clean their child's water or make milk formula. Kat explained how parents can get around this problem and stated that they should rather ask for a cup of hot water and a bottle of water. Pour the clean, bottled water into the child’s bottle, and then sit the child’s bottle inside the cup of hot water, so the hot water warms up from the outside.

The video has been watched more than 165,000 times. Many of the viewers expressed their disgust for the water tanks that weren't cleaned. One viewer commented; "You guys should clean them, seriously that's messed up."

An airline worker disputed Ms Kamalani's claims, and commented; "This doesn't apply to all airlines. In our airline, I can attest that they are really cleaning them. I've been a flight attendant for 18 years, the hot water is fine," although they admitted they never drank it cold.

A professor of nutrition and the executive director of the Food Policy Centre, Charles Platkin, also previously stated in an interview that the water tanks weren't as clean as people may think.

"Planes come in, (and the tanks are) not being emptied and cleaned, because there is no time for that. The water tank is being filled on top (after) each usage. Whatever would be on the bottom stays there and sits there."
