FORD INTRODUCES THEIR BRAAI ROBOT

What happens when you challenge South Africans to come up with a unique design using scrap metals at a car factory?

The TCF BBQ (Braai Boerewors Quickly) is the answer. That’s what happened when an internal challenge among the employees at Ford South Africa’s Silverton Assembly Plant got serious.

The TCF BBQ is able to braai 120 pieces of meat in only 12 minutes. According to a statement released by Ford South Africa, the “TCF BBQ calmy flips and moves grills around with speed and precision – and is guaranteed to be the centre of attention”.

My Broadband reports that various departments were encouraged to design something unique using whatever scrap materials and decommissioned tooling they could find and was available at the plant, following the extensive upgrades to the assembly line that took place in 2021.

While Ford South Africa won’t be branching out into the braai industry in the near future, Ford South Africa’s vice president of operations, Ockert Berry said that a new version of the TCF BBQ might just be on the cards to coincide with the launch of the next-generation Ranger”.
