FRENCH POLICE OFFICERS CHARGED AFTER TASER CAR CRASH

When police fun turns into possible prison time, things aren’t that fun after all.

Six officers were driving in a police car in the northern region of France when one of the officers in the passenger seat fired her Taser in the driver’s direction.

The driving officer lost control and the car hit a parked car. While there were no reports of injuries, there was an eyewitness who saw the incident and reported it.

Local media reported that the incident took place while the officers were on their way to Roubaix near the town of Lille, after they finished their shift.

While they were only having fun, the incident could mean prison time for the officer who discharged the Taser. She will be prosecuted for intentional violence with a weapon and endangering the lives of others, reports the BBC.

The other two officers involved are accused of hit-and-run and aiding and abetting a hit-and-run.

The three officers in custody have been summoned to appear at Lille’s criminal court on 3 February.

The local police authority has opened an internal investigation.
