FRIENDS STAR MATTHEW PERRY DIES
Actor Matthew Perry was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Perry gained worldwide stardom as Chandler Bing in the 1990s sitcom Friends alongside Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox.
It’s believed he drowned while sitting in his jacuzzi after he had a heart attack.
TMZ reported that no drugs were found at the scene and no foul play was reported.
The 54-year-old’s family said that they were “heartbroken” and described his death as “tragic”.
In a statement, the actor’s family said: “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”
They also acknowledged the support from Perry’s fans.
“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
The studio behind Friends, Warner Bros., released a statement saying how devastated they are.
“This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”
Perry recently made headlines when he published a memoir describing his addiction struggles and how he’s managed to recover and focus on his health.
