PUB COLLAPSES IN IRELAND

A building collapsed in County Mayo on Tuesday leaving five people seriously injured.

Duffy’s Bar collapsed in the morning with rubble falling on top of a parked van. The road was covered with rubble and the street had to be closed.

The five people injured consisted of a family who stayed at the bed and breakfast located above the pub. Four of the family members were able to get out themselves, but one member had to be rescued by emergency workers who arrived on the scene shortly after the incident took place.

All five family members were taken to a local hospital where they’re expected to stay over for a few nights.

Councillor John Caulfield said they were all shocked and grateful that nobody was killed when the three-storey building collapsed.

“If you were to see what they came out of, it is nothing short of a miracle. You couldn’t imagine that people could come out of it.”

The local health and safety authority (HAS) launched an investigation into the incident.
