GIRL FALLS OVERBOARD ON CRUISE, FATHER JUMPS AFTER HER
A young girl fell overboard while on holiday on a Disney cruise ship with her family.
According to an eyewitness, the little girl was sitting on the rail of the fourth-floor deck, waiting for a photo to be taken. She then fell overboard and into the water.
Her dad jumped in after her to try to rescue her.
Luckily, several witnesses saw the commotion and alerted the ship’s crew immediately.
An eyewitness was playing bingo when she noticed a commotion on deck. Gail Merrick said: “We came to find out that it was a child and then the father had gone in after the child, so we were watching with bated breath basically waiting for what would happen.”
According to a statement released by Disney Cruise Lines, the daughter and her father were “swiftly rescued” by crew members.
“We commend our crew members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes."
Local police in Miami are investigating the matter, but have made it clear that no foul play is suspected.
