WEBUYCARS CONSIDERING SELLING NEW CARS

Used car buyer WeBuyCars has announced that it’s considering selling new cars as well.

The news was confirmed by the JSE-listed company’s chief marketing officer Rikus Blomerus.

“It’s not us approaching them, it’s the other way around. We haven’t actually given it enough thought.”

Blomerus stressed that the discussions are still in their very early stages,

According to Blomerus, around 30% of their customers sell their used cars to WeBuyCars to buy new cars. If WeBuyCars can sell new cars to their existing customers, it would solve a problem for them: Sell your used car and buy your new car at the same place.

Blomerus added that “it might be a clever way to serve the market better, but it’s very early days”.

Recently, the number of complaints about cars bought at WeBuyCars has been put in the spotlight. The company told Moneyweb in March that it’s considering investing in its own mechanical test facilities to give resale information to its consumer base in South Africa.

The company is currently making use of Dekra to supply it with mechanical tests on the cars it sells.
