WOMAN PAYS R110 000 FOR TWO HOURS OF PARKING

A British woman was caught off guard when she had to pay R110,000 for two hours of parking. The incident took place at a mall in Slough, England.

Yaditi Kava and her two daughters went shopping on a Friday night. When they decided to go home, they saw that the payment machines inside the shopping centre weren’t working.

Kava opted to pay at the exit gate and swiped her card. Because she was in a rush with tired and hungry children in the car, she didn’t think much of the amount displayed, as it only read “4.5”.

She automatically assumed it meant £4.50.

Unfortunately, the amount turned out to be £4,586, but the screen wasn’t big enough for the large amount, so it only displayed the first two digits.

It turned out that the card machine was faulty, but Kava had to wait three weeks to get her money back.

She contacted the shopping centre management numerous times but only managed to get her money back after informing a consumer rights programme on the BBC.

One call to the consumer rights programme and her money was paid back into her account the next day.
