BEACH BOYS’ BRIAN WILSON DIES
Tributes have been pouring in since the news broke that Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson has died. He was 82.
His family on X announced the news of his death: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family grieves. We realise that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”
Wilson was the writer behind many of the world’s favourite songs like Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, and California Girls.
In the 1960s, the three Wilson brothers, their cousin and a friend rose to fame as the Beach Boys and eventually became one of the most popular groups of the rock era.
They managed to create more than 30 singles in the Top 40 worldwide and sold more than 100 million albums.
In 1988, the band was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Although Wilson was the main lyricist for the band, he fell out with the other members and left in the 1970s. One of the band’s most famous songs, Kokomo was written and released without Wilson’s input.
