POPE LEO BREAKS TRADITIONS
The first American pope isn’t scared to break traditions.
Not only did he wear a White Sox baseball hat during a public appearance at the Vatican, but he also wore it while he met with newly married couples.
Never before has a pope been seen in public wearing an item that wasn’t part of the traditional white cassocks. Some AI images have done the rounds, but never in real life.
The Chicago native Pope Leo XIV never shied away from showing his support for baseball. On 8 May, the day of his election, the pope’s brother John confirmed to the press that his brother is indeed a White Sox fan.
Shortly thereafter, footage emerged of the pope at the 2005 World Series, where the White Sox won the title after 88 years.
The American press has been loving his pope-next-door vibes, with the Chicago Sun Times dubbing him Da Pope.
AI images have been doing the rounds with students from Villanova University, where the pope attended university, who wanted to claim him and shared AI images of him in full official university attire.
While many members of the Catholic Church have welcomed the modern version of the pontiff, there are some traditionalists who query his modern quirks.
