GWEDE MANTASHE AND WIFE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe has tested positive for COVID-19.

His wife, Nolwandle also received her positive results on Tuesday the 14th of July.

Both of them are currently in self isolation at home. The Minister will continue to work from home.

According to a statement released by Cabinet, this was the Minister’s third round of tests that was conducted since the outbreak of the virus.

All members of the Minister’s private office in government have been directed to get tested.

In a statement released by the Department of Health on Tuesday, the current total of positive cases in South Africa stands at 298 292 with 4 346 deaths.

Gauteng is still the epicentre of the COVID-19 virus with a total of 107 070 confirmed cases, with the Western Cape currently at 80 199 confirmed cases.
