HARRODS FACES MORE THAN 250 MOHAMED AL FAYED CLAIMS
Four weeks ago, a documentary was released by the BBC featuring women who allege that they were victims of sexual misconduct by former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed. Now, Harrods has told the BBC that it’s currently in the process of settling more than 250 of these claims. The famous upmarket department store in London had previously said that it had already settled a number of these claims before the documentary aired. Many of the women have accused Al Fayed of rape or attempted rape and said at the time when the alleged sexual assault took place, the women were too scared to say something.
Harrods was owned by Al Fayed from 1985 to 2010 and is now owned by a Qatari-related company. The current owner said they were “appalled” by the allegations when the news first broke.
At the time when most of the allegations took place, Fayed not only owned Harrods but also the Ritz Paris Hotel and Fulham Football Club.
The billionaire businessman passed away last year at the age of 94. His son, Dodi Al Fayed died alongside Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris in the 1990s.
