HILARY DUFF SET TO PLAY ROLE IN HOW I MET YOUR FATHER WHICH WILL TIE INTO THE ORIGINAL HIMYM SERIES
The series that had everyone talking for several seasons, How I Met Your Mother, might be returning with its original cast in the spinoff series, How I Met Your Father.
Multiple How I Met Your Mother spinoffs have been in development the stages before being ditched in the past few years. However, it has finally been revealed that one is finally coming, and singer and actor, Hilary Duff, is set to star in the spinoff series. What you can expect from the HIMYF series is a similar story to its beloved predecessor... but in the complete opposite direction.
The original HIMYM premiered on CBS back in 2005. The series told the story of how Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) met his wife and the mother of his children, who was only revealed in the final season.
Other details
of the spinoff series, which includes who we will be expecting on screen and
when the series will be premiered, have still not been reveal. However, what we
can be sure of, is that the HIMYF series will be connected to the original
series in unexpected ways. The Lizzie McGuire star revealed on The Jess Cagle
Show on May 6, "I don't want to give it all away and the script is definitely
being changed a little bit, but it does tie in."
To tell fans
more about the series, How I Met Your Father will focus on Sophie, who is be
played by Duff. Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father,
using the original series’ structure of flashbacks and narrative voiceovers. Just
like the original series, the spinoff will be set in New York City (but filmed
in Los Angeles). The exciting series will also include several "flash back" to
2021, when Sophie and her friends are figuring out their futures.
Not only will
we see her familiar face on screen, but Duff will also serve as a producer on
the show, which will be executively produced by How I Met Your Mother creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, alongside Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
Not only is Duff
looking forward to meeting her new TV family, but she is also excited and
thrilled to see how her character Sophie will grow throughout the series.
"There's so much opportunity for love stories with this show because it's
Sophie and then three dudes. So it's going down that whole rabbit hole of like,
well, which one was the one, and who was the father? And you get to go through
all of Sophie's young experience of finding love and dating and what that's
like in the modern world."
No other casting
details for HIMYF have been announced as yet. There is also no confirmation to
whether the original cast of HIMYM, including Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie
Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, and Radnor, will make a guest
appearance. But no worries, Duff is already advocating for their return as she
said: "Hopefully we'll have some fun guest appearances from the original cast,"
she teased in the interview.
