IS HORSE MILK THE NEW DAIRY REPLACEMENT?
Just a few years ago, cow milk was the only type of milk most of us knew about. Then milk made from oats, nuts and soya beans were introduced.
People quickly adapted to the other different types of milk available and, nowadays, they are available in fresh or long-life variants. But just how open are we to the idea of horse milk?
All4Women reports that mare’s milk (milk from female horses) is rich in whey protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and vitamin C. It’s even more nutritious cup-for-cup than cow’s milk.
A British farmer has started to commercially produce mare’s milk. Since its launch, the milk hasn’t been much of a hit, and the price might have something to do with it.
The farmer is obviously not, well, horsing around, as he is currently selling his commercial mare’s milk at R300 per 500ml. That makes mare’s milk the most expensive milk in the world.
Hopefully it will become cheaper so more people can enjoy the benefits of mare’s milk.
On Britain’s This Morning show, a horse was recently milked – and the facial expressions of the two hosts were hysterical. Watch the video below.
