JAMES BLUNT THREATENS TO RELEASE NEW MUSIC IF SPOTIFY DOESN’T REMOVE JOE ROGAN’S PODCAST
British singer and songwriter James Blunt is no stranger to making fun of his own music.
In a tweet, he has threatened to release new music if Joe Rogan’s podcast isn’t removed from the music streaming platform.
This comes after Neil Young has removed his music from Spotify followed by Joni Mitchell.
Both singers asked Spotify to remove their music in protest against the streaming platform’s promotion of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
In the podcast released on 31 December 2021, Rogan questioned several popular views of the Covid-19 vaccine and whether it’s working.
Both Young and Mitchell felt that the standup comedian was sharing false information that could lead to people dying.
Young has however kept his entire catalogue on Apple Music and has even offered his fans free membership for a few months if they join.
Spotify still hasn’t removed the episode in question and is unlikely to do so as the podcast is worth a lot of money for them. They have announced that whenever the matter of Covid or vaccines are discussed in any podcast from now on, they will add a disclaimer.
