JEFFREE STAR – MAKE-UP MOGUL LOSES THOUSANDS OF FOLLOWERS
After beauty YouTuber Kameron Lester made it public that she has cut all ties with beauty YouTuber Jeffree Star and Jeffree Star cosmetics, Jeffree has seen a huge decrease in the number of his followers.
In the past few weeks, he has lost more than 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, 17,000 twitter followers in the last week, and around 18,000 Instagram followers.
Kameron stated that: “He said: “I just felt like it wasn't a friendship, it was never a friendship, in the beginning, to start with, it was always something, like, I was kind of like the token Black kid."
After Kameron began to pull away as a friend, he stated that Jeffree replaced him as a model in his campaign for the ‘Cremated’ line of Jeffree Star Cosmetics and that he felt it was sending a message that he was replaceable as a black man in the beauty industry.
A voice memo that was allegedly sent by Jeffree in response to the video has since been leaked online and retweeted by Kameron. In the clip, he says: “You trying to flip the script and make up a bunch of lies and make me the devil, is so boring."
In the video, TAB relayed some of his experiences with Jeffree including the incident where he once called Gwen Stefani “a very derogatory word towards Jewish people.”
Shane Dawson, another YouTuber and very close friend of Jeffree Star, has also lost significant numbers of subscribers and followers. According to SocialBlade, his average daily follower growth on Instagram is currently -3901. He has lost almost 9,000 Twitter followers in the last week.
But we cannot forget about the feud between Jeffree and Tati Westbrook.
Jeffree Star has been at the centre of the beauty community’s latest scandal and has officially been dropped from his long-time collaborator, makeup company Morphe, after his and Shane Dawson’s drama with Tati.
Morphe wrote in a statement on Twitter: ‘Today we’ve made the decision to cease all commercial activity related to Jeffree Star and affiliated products. ‘We expect this to conclude within the coming weeks. As we look to the future, we will continue to share updates on what lies ahead for the Morphe brand.’
Tati claimed that Jeffree told her ‘poisonous lies’ about beauty YouTuber James Charles. She released a video explaining the ongoing feud between the three.
Tati came after Jeffree and Shane in her video, claiming they had ‘weaponised’ her against fellow beauty guru James.
Jeffree has not publicly addressed the claims and has been quiet on social media, apart from being spotted lounging in his pool in his LA mansion on fellow YouTuber Cole Carrigan’s Instagram Stories.
