JEWELLERY STORE IN CRADLESTONE MALL ROBBED

A security guard has been wounded after a Brown’s jewellery store in Johannesburg was robbed on Sunday afternoon. The incident happened at Cradlestone Mall which is located in Mogale City on Johannesburg’s West Rand.

According to Krugersdorp News, social media indicates that the first shots were fired outside the store. Eyewitnesses said that shoppers were held at gunpoint and told to lie down.

So far, it is unclear exactly what was stolen. The robbers allegedly fled in two vehicles.

Times Live reports that a 40-year-old security guard was airlifted to hospital after being wounded in his torso.

The country has seen a recent increase in jewellery store robberies. Last week a jewellery store in the Nicolway Shopping Centre in Bryanston was targeted as well.

More on this as the story develops.
