JOHANNESBURG WOMAN WANTS KFC TO PAY HER MEDICAL BILLS

A 42-year-old woman claims food that she bought at KFC has caused her severe salmonella, and now wants the fast food company to foot her medical bills.

News24 reports that Diana Oosthuizen bought food at the KFC brand in Roodepoort on 6 November. After they finished their food, the entire family became ill. Oosthuizen was the only one that had to be hospitalized.

"I had to go to the emergency rooms as I just could not stop vomiting and experienced severe abdominal pain. I was placed on a drip and went back home. I had to go back as I just worsened and was placed on a drip again," she told News24.

Oosthuizen, a short-term insurance broker, was forced to take unpaid sick leave. She claims her medical bills racked up to thousands of rands.

All4Women reports that she wants the fast food chain to settle her medical bills.

"I went into a deep depression and had to borrow money for my medical bills, not to mention that I am still receiving medical bills that my medical aid won’t cover."

While KFC acknowledged that they know about the claim and, reportedly, told News24 that they are investigating the matter, Oosthuizen says she hasn’t heard anything from the fast food chain yet.
