JOSHLIN SMITH STILL NOT FOUND
It’s been five weeks and counting since Joshlin Smith has gone missing and there’s still no news regarding her whereabouts.
The six-year-old went missing on 19 February.
Western Cape police said the search is still ongoing and provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed this.
Poje also urged members of the community and social media influencers to refrain from sharing unfounded messages regarding Joshlin and the investigation.
“We appeal to community members and influencers to refrain from posting unfounded and malicious intended messages with regards to the investigation on social media platforms.”
Joshlin’s mother has been arrested and charged in connection with her disappearance. She claims that the last time she saw Joshlin was before she left to go to work. Joshlin was left in the care of her mother’s boyfriend who is a co-accused in the case.
Two other people have also since been arrested.
Smith was a grade 1 pupil in the Saldanha Bay area.
IOL reports that Police Minister Bheki Cele also visited the area earlier this month, to ensure residents that they were doing everything in their power to find the girl.
