JOURNALISTS COVERING ELON MUSK SUSPENDED FROM TWITTER
Twitter recently suspended the accounts of more than six journalists who have been covering stories about the social media platform and its new owner Elon Musk.
The move created controversy after the company recently claimed to be a supporter of free speech under the leadership of Musk.
Since Musk took over, several hundred people have been fired and management turned upside down.
One of the accounts that have been suspended is @ElonJet. The account has long been tracking flights of Musk’s private jet, reporting on the jet’s whereabouts. Previously, Musk has been quoted as saying he won’t touch @ElonJet as it goes against his freedom of speech approach.
Donie O’Sullivan is a reporter for CNN and his account has also been suspended.
In a tweet, CNN said: “The impulsive and unjustified suspension of a number of reporters, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, is concerning but not surprising. Twitter’s increasing instability and volatility should be of incredible concern for everyone who uses the platform.”
CNN has since requested an explanation from Twitter but didn’t get a reply.
