KAT VON D SHARES SAME NEWS AS PARIS HILTON ABOUT ‘TORTUROUS’ BOARDING SCHOOL
In her recent documentary, Paris Hilton revealed how she'd been traumatized by her time at a boarding school for troubled teens in Utah. Recently, Kat Von D also confirmed that she had experienced the same 'tortuous' treatment at Provo Canyon School (PCS) when she was 15-years-old.
The 38-year-old tattoo artist, shared on social media that she also experienced the torture of the boarding school and recalled the abuse, which she likened to being "kidnapped and locked up in an institution", and its lasting effects.
In the caption alongside the video which she shared on Instagram, she explained that she was inspired by Paris's film to also speak out about what had happened to her at the same school.
She claimed to have been "locked up for half a year, without ever seeing the sun". She explained that after she had left the school, she suffered from "major PTSD and other traumas".
She further elaborated about "the 'Troubled Teen' industry, and the damage it causes to not just the kids, but the families."
After being made public about the abuse suffered in the This Is Paris documentary, PCS – which continues to operate residential treatment facilities for teens – has posted a statement on its website which reads; "Please note that PCS was sold by its previous ownership in August 2000. We therefore cannot comment on the operations or patient experience prior to that time. We are committed to providing high-quality care to youth with special, and often complex, emotional, behavioral and psychiatric needs."
Kat further elaborated about her experience, and shared that she recalled being woken up in her bed in the middle of the night and forcefully transported to the institution. "I was sleeping... and the door opens and there are these two big dudes and a pretty athletic-built woman standing at the door telling me to calm down and to get dressed and that we would be leaving," she recounted. "And if I didn't do what they say I would have to choose the hard way, which was getting handcuffed."
She described the school as a "pretty crazy, torturous awful place" and added that it was "definitely the most traumatic 6 months of my life".
Not only being traumatized, Kat stated that she had witnessed physical and sexual abuse.
After being released from the institution, she said she started "drinking bottles and bottles of whiskey" as a way to cope with her trauma. However, the LA Ink reality star revealed she had never told her parents about what she went through "because it wasn't their fault."
