KZN POLICE ARRESTS MAN OVER R2.3 MILLION HEROIN BUST

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in KwaZulu-Natal after police found heroin with an estimated street value of R2.3 million in his possession.

Police carried out an operation at a house in Glenwood, Durban where the bust was made. It’s not clear whether the man arrested is also the owner of the house.

Hawks Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said over the weekend that Hawks officers from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, along with the Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police Drug Team made the bust. They received information about a suspect responsible for distributing the drugs in the province.

Upon leaving his place of residence, “he was stopped and searched and on searching the bag, police found packs of pure heroin powder to the street value of approximately R2,340,000.”

The man was arrested for dealing with drugs and will appear in court this week.
