LOUIS VUITTON IS SA’S FAVOURITE LUXURY BRAND

With COVID-19 still a reality across the world and the local economy having taken a massive knock, it’s surprising to hear that luxury brands are still being supported in South Africa.

Luxity recently compiled a report to establish which international luxury brand is the nation’s favourite. Turns out Louis Vuitton has claimed the number one spot yet again followed by Chanel, Gucci, Hermes and Burberry.

“The top overall brand for 2021 remains Louis Vuitton which shows tremendous longevity across all categories in terms of sales as well as interest,” says the report.

“Based on strong overall performance and the highest interest, Louis Vuitton was able to maintain its position as the most popular luxury brand in South Africa in the pre-owned market.”

News24 reports that despite COVID-19 and lockdowns, the local luxury sector did remarkably well between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021.

This is the first time that Burberry, the famous British luxury brand, has made it to the top five in the local list.

It’s believed that a lot of these luxury brands might have been purchased in South Africa, but by international tourists instead of locals.
