MANGO FLIGHT LOSES CABIN PRESSURE AMID PASSENGERS PANIC

A flight heading to Durban lost pressure and oxygen masks came out as passengers started panicking. This happened on Monday on a Mango Airlines flight between Johannesburg and Durban.

The airplane lost pressure momentarily, and passengers had to change face masks for oxygen masks.

News of the incident spread when a video surfaced on social media of a man recording himself with the oxygen mask on. In the background, you can hear other passengers as well as a child panicking.

News24 reports that, even though the video was widely spread, the source couldn't be established.

In a statement released by Mango Airlines, the airline said that it can "confirm that flight JE251 from Johannesburg to Durban experienced a depressurisation incident during the flight".

"The aircraft landed safely and the crew disembarked passengers accordingly. We have referred the aircraft for further technical investigation and will communicate further once the investigation is concluded."

According to News24, Mango has been unable to verify the video without a name or seat number to check against the passenger list.

In 2020, one of FlySafair's aircraft lost pressure with detrimental effects. Some passengers' noses started bleeding while others had earache. One passenger had to receive medical attention.
