MOST EXPENSIVE DAY SCHOOL IN SA NOW COSTS R209 000 PER YEAR
The top 12 most expensive day schools in South Africa have recently been announced by Business Insider.
It’s important to note that most of the prices listed do not include extras like fees for IEB exams and extra-curricular activities, equipment or excursions.
For R209 000 a year, you can enrol your Grade 12 child at Kearsney College in KZN. The same school was the most expensive last year as well.
The other schools in the top five include St. John’s College, Roedean School, Bishops Diocesan College and Crawford College Sandton.
Last year, many of the schools listed did not increase their fees due to the economic impact of Covid-19. The highest year-on-year fee increase this year was Bishops who increased their fee by R11 900 for Grade 12.
Business Insider did a comparison between a year of undergraduate tertiary tuition in commerce, law, or engineering at an institution like the University of Cape Town or the University of the Witwatersrand typically costs between R50 000 and R70 000.
In essence, one year at one of these schools cost roughly the same as an undergraduate degree in law, commerce, or the arts at some universities.
