MOTORIST ARRESTED FOR KILLING CHEETAH IN KRUGER

A motorist has been arrested for running over a cheetah in the Kruger National Park over the long weekend.

South African National Parks (SANParks) confirmed the incident in a statement posted on social media, reports TimesLive.

“Details are still sketchy at this stage as to what exactly happened, but Vlakteplaas Rangers attended to the scene of the accident.”

It is believed that rangers spotted damage to the motorist’s vehicle on the night of Friday the 24th and soon found the dead animal. The motorist was detained by the park rangers before being taken into custody by local police.

It is not clear whether the motorist is a South African or a tourist from another country.

Local residents shared their fury and outrage on social media urging visitors to the park to drive slower.

This is a developing story and more information will be reported once received.
