OBAMA CANCELS BIG 60TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Former President Barack Obama has canceled his upcoming birthday celebrations due to the current rise in Covid-19 infections in the United States.

The Delta variant has increased the number of cases in the country significantly.

Obama, who was set to host his 60th birthday party on the posh island of Martha’s Vineyard received a lot of criticism from conservatives regarding the event.

According to RTE, the event was to be held outdoors at an oceanside estate in full compliance with guidelines from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), with all guests needing to be vaccinated and provide negative tests for the virus.

The who’s who of both the world of politics and Hollywood were invited to the party. This includes former Obama administration officials, Democratic donors, and celebrities like George Clooney, Steven Spielberg, and Oprah Winfrey.

In a joint statement released by the former President and his wife Michelle, the couple said that they’ve reduced the number of attendees that have been invited significantly and that only close friends and family will attend.

RTE further reports that current President Joe Biden, who was Obama’s Vice President when he was in office, wasn’t scheduled to attend the original event.
