PARIS FACING MASSIVE BED BUG PROBLEM

The city of love is not so in love with its current infestation of bed bugs. The tiny insects that are known to suck blood, have been spotted in several apartments and houses in the city.

They’ve even been spotted on the Metro where some passengers are now preferring to stand rather than sit down because they fear the bed bugs would jump on them.

Reports suggest that the bed bugs have even been spotted in hotels, movie theatres and at the Charles de Gaulle airport.

Emmanuel Gregoire, the Deputy Mayor of Paris, has said in a statement that “no one is safe”.

The infestation has a lot of people worried, not only about their own health but also about the 2024 Summer Olympic Games that the city will be hosting.

Even President Emmanual Macron’s government is calling for action, along with Paris City Hall. They’ve joined forces to protect the image of Paris ahead of the Olympics next year and have made it clear that they’re simply not dismissing the infestation as a social media invention.

The physical health and well-being of the city’s residents, as well as the mental health of those affected by the matter, is under the spotlight.
