PIERS MORGAN QUITS BRITISH MORNING SHOW
Outspoken TV presenter, Piers Morgan, has quit Good Morning Britain following his row with a fellow presenter over Meghan Markle.
Morgan has received a lot of backlash after he shared his opinion on Oprah Winfrey’s televised interview with Prince Harry and his wife on Sunday.
The day after the interview, Morgan told viewers that he believes the couple has caused a lot of damage for the royal family and that they only had their own best interest at heart.
On Tuesday, Morgan was criticised by his fellow presenter and the show’s weatherman, Alex Beresford, for his negative remarks about Markle and her mental health condition. Morgan replied, saying that it’s clear she hasn’t been thinking about all the hard work the Queen has put in over the decades that she’s been the head of the royal family.
During the show, Morgan got rid of his microphone and stormed off the live set.
ITV, the channel hosting the breakfast show, later released a statement about the ordeal.
“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
The former CNN presenter is known for speaking his mind, something that has gotten him into hot water over the years.
The British media watchdog, Ofcom, received 41,000 complaints following Morgan’s remarks.
