POLICE INVESTIGATES NELLIE TEMBE’S DEATH

Only a few hours after posting photos on social media of her and her fiancé having dinner in Cape Town, Anele ‘Nellie’ Tembe fell to her death.

Tembe, engaged to rapper AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, fell from the 11th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel on Sunday morning.

Netcare 911 released a statement in which they said that paramedics responded to a fall outside a hotel in the city centre shortly after 8am.

"Reports indicate that a 22-year-old female had allegedly jumped from the 11th floor, landing on the road below. Medics from Netcare 911 and the Department of Health assisted the patient who was treated with advanced life support by a medic."

After paramedics tried to stabilise her, her condition rapidly deteriorated. Tembe was declared dead on the scene.

The pair got engaged in February, and it is believed they were in Cape Town together as AKA had a performance in the Mother City over the weekend.

The Tembe and Forbes families released a joint statement asking for privacy as the families take time to heal. In the statement AKA was described as "inconsolable" following his fiancé's "untimely passing".
