PRETORIA SHOPPING CENTRE COLLAPSES

A structural collapse at the Jakaranda Shopping Centre in the Moot area of Pretoria happened around 11:30 on Thursday morning.

One person, a construction worker who worked on the site, has died.

Charles Mabaso, the spokesperson for Tshwane Emergency Services, said that the K9 dog unit was called in to search for the body.

According to the Moot Rekord, several other people were said to have sustained slight to serious injuries when the centre’s structure collapsed.

Xander Loubser, the Ambu-Link paramedics spokesperson who transferred the patients to various hospitals in the area, said that 10 people sustained slight injuries while four sustained serious injuries.

It is unclear at this stage what the cause of the collapse was.
