RCL FOODS IN WOLWEHOEK CLEARED OF LISTERIA

The Wolwehoek polony plant that was identified as one of the possible sources of the Listeria outbreak in South Africa has been cleared of the strain.

RCL Foods, Tiger Brands' rival, announced on Friday that: “Tests conducted by an independent laboratory in France, which is considered to be a leading expert in this field, have shown that the plant is clear of the ST6 listeria strain.”

The government has linked the world’s worst listeria outbreak to a factory in Polokwane, owned by Tiger Brands, which has killed 180 people since January last year.
