SA WINS GOLD AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

After not being able to enter for a few years due to a lack of funding, South Africa has yet again won gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London.

Thanks to Cape Flora SA, South Africa was able to send a team to this year’s show.

The gold medal was awarded to floral artist and horticulturist Leon Kluge who was responsible for the exquisite flora display.

In the 43 years that we’ve entered, South Africa has won 37 medals, plus the gold we were awarded at this year’s show.

Good Things Guy reports that this year’s display embodied a slice of the mountains; offering a marriage between our country’s natural beauty and the artist’s eye thanks to Leon and artist Tristan Woudberg along with a group of volunteers who helped bring the winning display to life.

South Africa received a perfect score from the RHS judges and was awarded ‘Best Exhibit in the Pavillion’ as well as the ‘Best New Design’ award. This was the first time that South Africa won both of these coveted awards.
