SA’S MOST HIJACKED VEHICLES

This is one list you don’t want to be on. The Fidelity Services Group has recently released South Africa’s list of most hijacked vehicles.

The Group added that there’s been a notable decrease in hijacking between November 2024 and December 2024. But, the Group believes that this decline will be short-lived as, according to BusinessTech, hijackings will “rise again from late January, with a big jump in February and March”.

Just like previous years, Ford, Volkswagen and Toyota are still among the most hijacked vehicles.

The top 10 most hijacked vehicles in South Africa are:

-            VW Polo

-            Toyota Hilux/Ford Ranger

-            Toyota Corolla Cross

-            Toyota Fortuner

-            Haval Jolion

-            Chery Tiggo 4 Pro

-            Haval H6

-            Chery Tiggo 7 Pro

With Chinese cars like the Chery and Haval growing in popularity, their appeal to criminals also grows,

Wahl Bartmann, CEO of Fidelity Group, advises that being alert is the best safety option.

“Too often, we are distracted, which makes us vulnerable to criminal activity. The best response is to be alert and aware of any suspicious activity near you.”

Stay aware and take the necessary precautions when driving, even when it’s just in and out of your own garage.
