SHAKIRA BREAKS YOUTUBE RECORD WITH SONG DISSING HER EX
Following a break-up with footballer Gerard Pique, Shakira is not only getting the best revenge, but she’s also breaking records at the same time.
The Colombian singer’s latest song is titled BZRP Music Sessions #53 and is a collaboration with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap.
The video for the song has been viewed more than 110 million times and has become the most-watched new Latin song ever. A staggering 63 million of those views took place in the first 24 hours.
References to Pique and their 11-year relationship are obvious with lyrics like “you left me with my mother-in-law as a neighbour, with the press at my door and a debt to the taxman”.
The debt she’s referring to is the upcoming trial in Spain in which Shakira is being accused of failing to pay almost $14 million in taxes. This happened between 2012 and 2014 when Pique played for a Spanish football club and the couple stayed with their two kids.
The government says Shakira used shell companies to conceal her income while the singer denies these claims, saying they’re “fictional”.
Pique is rumoured to be dating a 23-year-old, Clara Chia. Shakira also references this relationship in the song when she sings “I’m worth two 22-year-olds” and later on she compares their relationship to trading “a Ferrari for a Twingo” and a “Rolex for a Casio”.
