SEVERAL CELEBS ASKED TO EVACUATE THEIR HOMES DUE TO FLOODS
From royals to TV royalty, several A-list celebs have been asked to evacuate their homes because of the possibility of flash floods.
California has been hit by heavy rain storms over the past few days. The Montecito area, home to Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, and Harry and Meghan has been hit hard. Firefighters fear that mudslides could engulf the luxury homes.
Montecito was expected to get up to 20 centimetres of rain in only 24 hours. Recent downpours mean that the hilly area is already at risk of floods.
Former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres took to Twitter to share the seriousness of the situation.
“This creek next to our house never ever flows. It’s probably about nine feet up, and it’s going to go another two feet.”
News24 reports that the evacuation order in Montecito came as California was being lashed by the latest in a parade of storms that have already killed 12 people. A swather of the Golden State was under flood warnings as it struggled to cope with yet more rain on top of near-record downpours in recent weeks – with even more forecast over the coming days.
