MARTINA NAVRATILOVA CANCER DIAGNOSIS

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with stage 1 breast and throat cancer.

The 61-year-old discovered an enlarged lymph node in her neck during a tennis tournament in November 2022. She underwent testing and that's when doctors discovered stage 1 throat cancer and later stage 1 breast cancer.

Navratilova announced the news in a statement.

"This double whammy is serious but still fixable. I'm hoping for a favourable outcome. It's going to stink for a while, but I'll fight with all I have got."

Navratilova was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 as well, but successfully managed to beat it.

Now a commentator, Navratilova won't be working at this year's Australian Open while she undergoes treatment.
