WOMAN WINS JACKPOT WITH SECRET SANTA LOTTERY GIFT
An American woman hit the jackpot when her office party’s secret Santa gift turned out to be worth a lot more than she initially hoped for.
Lori Janes from Kentucky initially received a TJ Maxx gift card worth $25. She was happy with the gift, but one of her colleagues ‘stole’ it from her as part of the rules of the game they were playing.
The next item that Janes could take was two lottery tickets.
The office manager and treatment coordinator at a dental centre in Louisville scratched the first ticket but only won $50. Her colleagues then convinced her to scratch the second card as well.
“Once it got to me, it was done and mine to keep. That’s when everyone was telling me to scratch them off.”
The second ticket turned out to be the game’s top prize of $175,000.
The mother of two says everyone in the office went crazy when they realised that she had hit the jackpot.
“Everyone was going insane. People were getting their calculators out and double-checking. A couple of people even scanned the ticket on the lottery’s app, just to make sure.”
