SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST EXPENSIVE BOARDING SCHOOLS REVEALED
Hilton College has yet again been named South Africa’s most expensive private boarding school.
For one matric pupil attending Hilton College, the cost of school fees is just below R370,000 a year. According to Business Insider, it’s roughly double what you’ll pay for a bachelor’s degree in catered residence at South African universities.
The private school in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands underwent an increase of 7.8% (R26,765) since last year. Michaelhouse is Hilton College’s arch-rival and the second most expensive private boarding school in the country.
The school fee for a matric pupil to attend Michaelhouse is R342,000 per year. It increased by 4.3% since 2022.
In 2022, three of the top 10 most expensive boarding schools in South Africa cost in the region of R300,000. The fees have jumped so much that this year nine of the 10 schools fall into that same category.
The cheapest option of the top 10 is only R900 shy of R300,000.
