STANDARD BANK OPENING BRANCHES IN PICK N PAY STORES

Selected Pick n Pay stores in Gauteng and the Western Cape will soon play host to more than just groceries.

Standard Bank has announced that it plans to open branches inside certain Pick n Pay stores. The first branch was opened in Richmond in the Western Cape recently and was very well received by customers.

In a statement released by the bank, it described what its branches inside the stores will look like.

“The new branches will only be at selected Pick n Pay stores… and will have a space for consultations, as well as a more private area for in-depth discussions, and will by manned by Standard Bank employees.”

Standard Bank also said that the idea behind the in-store branches is to access a broader South African market.

“Our philosophy is to create banking solutions that reach clients in the way that works for them,” said Funeka Montiane, Standard Bank’s CEO of Consumer and High Net Worth Client segments.

“Here we are making it easier, convenient, and bringing a branch to where our clients are.”

It’s not the first bank to partner with Pick n Pay. Back in 2019, the digital TymeBank made use of the retailer to assist them by printing their bank cards in-store.
