STOWAWAY FOUND ALIVE IN WHEEL OF PLANE
After a flight from Johannesburg landed in Amsterdam, Dutch police found a stowaway alive in the wheel section of the plane.
At this stage, details are sketchy around where the man managed to get on the plane as it’s believed the cargo plane made a stop in Nairobi, Kenya. If he got on in Johannesburg, it’s a miracle that he managed to survive because the flight is 11 hours and with low oxygen and sub-zero temperatures it’s almost impossible for humans to survive.
Dutch broadcaster NOS reported that the man’s body temperature was raised at the scene and by the time an ambulance arrived, he was able to answer basic questions.
The cargo flight was operated by Cargolux Italia.
Dutch police said that the man’s age and nationality haven’t been determined yet. He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
While stowaways aren’t a common occurrence, their chances of surviving are very slim. In 2019 a stowaway fell from a Kenyan Airways flight on its way to Heathrow. The man fell to his death and his body was found in a suburban garden in London.
